A Federal High Court has reserved judgment in the legal dispute challenging the emergence of Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Gombe State, with the ruling expected to determine the party's political direction ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The court reached the decision after hearing arguments from all parties involved in the pre-election suit. Justice Amina Aliyu Mohammed announced that a date for judgment would be communicated after a thorough review of the submissions presented before the court.
Legal Challenge Against Pantami's Candidacy
The suit was instituted by an aggrieved PDP governorship aspirant, Usman Aliyu Garry, who is contesting the process that produced Pantami as the party's governorship candidate.

"Today, we argued our originating summons, they took their preliminary objections, and it is now adjourned for judgment on both processes," Ibrahim told journalists after the court session.
He further stated that the withdrawal of one of the plaintiffs would not affect the substance of the case.
Meanwhile, lawyers representing Pantami and the PDP urged the court to dismiss the suit, insisting that the governorship primary complied with all relevant legal and constitutional requirements.
