The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced significant breakthroughs in Nigeria’s ongoing battle against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes, revealing that troops rescued 398 kidnapped victims, arrested 31 terrorist suspects and collaborators, and neutralised 10 criminals during coordinated military operations across the country. The latest achievements underscore the military’s commitment to strengthening national security and protecting citizens from criminal activities.

According to the DHQ, the operations were carried out through intelligence-driven missions, fighting patrols, clearance operations, and coordinated offensives involving multiple security agencies. The military said the operations targeted terrorist hideouts, bandit camps, kidnapping syndicates, and criminal networks operating in several states across Nigeria.

Major Security Breakthroughs Across Regions

Military authorities disclosed that troops operating under various theatres of operation recorded successes against terrorists, kidnappers, gunrunners, and criminal collaborators. Several suspects linked to terrorism financing, logistics support, and criminal activities were apprehended during the operations.

The military also recovered weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, communication devices, and other items believed to have been used in criminal operations. Security experts believe these recoveries will significantly disrupt the operational capabilities of terrorist and bandit groups.

398 Kidnap Victims Regain Freedom

One of the most remarkable outcomes of the nationwide operations was the rescue of 398 kidnapped victims. The victims included women, children, and elderly persons who had been abducted from communities and highways in different parts of the country.

Military officials explained that many of the victims were rescued during direct operations, while others escaped captivity after sustained military offensives forced terrorists and kidnappers to abandon their camps. Similar military pressure has led to previous successful rescues in the North-East and other regions.

The rescued victims reportedly received medical attention, screening, and support before being reunited with their families and communities.

Arrest of Terror Suspects and Collaborators

The DHQ confirmed the arrest of 31 suspected terrorists and collaborators believed to have provided logistical support, intelligence, and operational assistance to criminal groups.

Military authorities stated that intelligence gathered from the suspects could aid future operations aimed at dismantling terrorist supply chains and support networks.

Among those arrested were individuals suspected of involvement in arms trafficking and criminal logistics operations. The military emphasized that disrupting these networks remains a critical component of the country's counter-terrorism strategy.

Sustained Pressure on Terrorists and Bandits

In addition to the arrests and rescues, troops neutralised 10 terrorists and criminal elements during encounters in multiple operational zones. Several terrorist camps and criminal hideouts were destroyed, while weapons and ammunition were recovered.

Military officials noted that sustained offensives have continued to weaken terrorist groups, limit their movement, and reduce their ability to launch attacks against communities.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria reiterated their commitment to maintaining operational momentum until terrorist and criminal networks are completely dismantled.

Call for Public Support

The Defence Headquarters urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence that can assist in preventing attacks and tracking criminal elements.

Security experts maintain that while military operations remain essential, long-term peace and security will also require stronger community engagement, improved intelligence-sharing, and socio-economic development in vulnerable areas.

As troops continue operations across the country, the recent successes provide renewed hope that Nigeria’s security challenges can be significantly reduced through sustained military pressure, collaboration among security agencies, and public cooperation.
