The event attracted PDP leaders, candidates, stakeholders and supporters from different parts of Ogun State, creating a festive atmosphere as the opposition party began presenting its message to voters ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

Adebutu attended the event alongside his wife, Chief Mrs. Adenike Adebutu, and his running mate, Alhaja Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo.

Also present were the PDP Ogun State Chairman, Hon. Abayomi Tella; the PDP Ogun West Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Babatunde Ogunola, popularly known as Tomo; Engr. Rashidat Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo, the party's candidate for the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency; PDP South-West Secretary, Comrade Oluwole Omotaje; as well as other House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates, party leaders and stakeholders.

PDP Chairman Calls for Change in Ogun

Addressing party faithful at the campaign flag-off, Hon. Abayomi Tella charged PDP members to see the movement as an opportunity to pursue what he described as a new direction for Ogun State.

The state chairman maintained that the PDP has historically demonstrated its ability to make a difference in governance and urged party members to remain united and committed as the 2027 election approaches.

Tella's remarks were met with cheers from supporters who gathered at the venue to demonstrate their support for the PDP and its candidates.

Adebutu Unveils People-Centred Development Agenda

Speaking to the excited crowd, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu said his ambition is to make Ogun State the pride of Nigeria through policies and programmes that place the welfare of residents at the centre of governance.

The PDP governorship candidate outlined key areas of his proposed agenda, including security, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and education.

Adebutu stressed the importance of implementing programmes that directly affect the lives of ordinary residents while creating an environment capable of supporting businesses, employment and economic development.

His message comes as political parties across Ogun State intensify preparations and grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

Security and Agriculture Among Key Priorities

Security featured prominently among the issues highlighted by the PDP candidate. Adebutu presented security as an important foundation for economic development, noting that residents and businesses need a stable environment to thrive.

He also identified agriculture as an important sector capable of contributing significantly to Ogun State's economic development and providing opportunities for residents, particularly in rural communities.

Infrastructure was another major component of the agenda presented at the campaign flag-off, with Adebutu emphasizing the importance of development projects that can improve transportation, connectivity and economic activities across the state.

Healthcare and Education

Adebutu also highlighted healthcare and education as important areas requiring sustained attention.

He spoke about the need for people-centred policies capable of improving access to essential services and strengthening the state's human capital.

Education, in particular, remains a major component of development because of its importance in preparing young people for employment, entrepreneurship and participation in the wider economy.

The emphasis on healthcare, education, agriculture and infrastructure forms part of the PDP's broader message as the Ogun 2027 political contest begins to gather momentum.

Adebutu Raises Concerns Over Corruption and Workers' Welfare

The PDP governorship candidate also addressed the issue of corruption in governance, linking part of the challenge to what he described as the poor treatment of workers.

Adebutu particularly mentioned issues surrounding pensions and gratuities, arguing that government must take the welfare of workers and retirees seriously.

According to the PDP candidate, responsible governance should include policies that protect workers, improve their welfare and ensure that government obligations are met.

The issue of workers' welfare is expected to remain an important part of the political conversation as candidates present their programmes ahead of the 2027 election.

PDP Ogun Campaign Enters New Phase

The Ake campaign flag-off marks another significant stage in the PDP's preparations for the 2027 Ogun State election.

The presence of the governorship candidate alongside the party chairman, senatorial candidate, House of Representatives candidates, House of Assembly candidates and other stakeholders demonstrated an attempt by the party to project a coordinated campaign structure.

The development also comes shortly after other PDP campaign activities in Ogun West. Premium News Naija previously reported that Ota was agog as the PDP flagged off its National Assembly campaign and unveiled its Ogun West candidates.

Political parties and candidates are expected to intensify consultations, grassroots mobilisation, campaign rallies and engagements with community leaders and voters across the state's three senatorial districts.

For the PDP, the challenge will be to sustain the enthusiasm displayed at the Ake campaign flag-off while communicating its policies and programmes effectively to voters across Ogun State.

The party will also have to maintain unity among its candidates, leaders and supporters as the election approaches.

Conclusion

The PDP campaign flag-off at Ake, Abeokuta, has formally opened another chapter in the political race for Ogun State in 2027.

With Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu (Lado) leading the governorship ticket, supported by his running mate, party leaders, legislative candidates and stakeholders, the PDP is positioning itself as a major contender in the forthcoming election.
