The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, popularly known as the OK Movement, has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as political preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 Nigerian general elections.
The development adds another layer to the evolving 2027 presidential election landscape, particularly discussions surrounding the political relationship between former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
According to reports, the newly constituted council includes zonal and state coordinators as well as officials responsible for mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs, information technology, administration and other areas of campaign organisation.
59-Member Council Targets Nationwide Mobilisation
The structure announced by the OK Movement provides representation across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory.
The council includes coordinators for the country's 36 states alongside directors assigned to different areas of campaign administration and political mobilisation.
John Ughulu, the Director-General of the movement, was named Director-General of the campaign council, while National Secretary Saadatu Sani was also listed among the campaign leadership.
The appointments indicate an effort to establish an organisational network extending from the national level to states and grassroots communities.
Among the zonal coordinators announced are Suleiman Abubakar for the North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West, Amadu Gwambe for the North-East, Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East.
Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso Political Project
The campaign council is being established around the political movement supporting a proposed Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso political project ahead of the 2027 election.
The movement says its objective is to take its political message and vision to Nigerians across the country through an organised campaign structure.
The development comes as political parties, movements and opposition groups continue to position themselves for the next presidential election.
Peter Obi has remained a prominent figure in discussions surrounding Nigeria's opposition politics. His political activities and possible alliances have continued to attract attention as the country moves closer to the 2027 polls.

Key Directors Named
Several individuals have been appointed to oversee specialised areas of the campaign organisation.
Rev. Mike Agbon was named Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria, while Sabo Gashua was appointed Director of Grassroots Mobilisation.
Glory Adayi was named Director of Women Affairs, with Kabir Yahaya taking responsibility for Contact and Engagement. Abdumumini Tijjani was appointed Director of Mobilisation, while Yusuf Mani was assigned Special Duties.
Peace Daful was named Director of Procurement, while Prof. Charles Nwekeaku was appointed to oversee South Eastern Town Hall activities.
Sunmisola Adebayo was appointed Director of Information Technology.
Kingdom Okere was named Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri was appointed Director of Strategy and Planning, while Richard Enemona CSP (retd.) was named Director of Security and Intelligence.
Aisha Abdulrahaman was appointed Director of Administration.
Focus on Grassroots Engagement
The campaign council is expected to coordinate political mobilisation across states, local government areas and communities as preparations for the 2027 Nigeria election continue.
National Secretary Saadatu Sani urged members of the newly constituted council to take the movement's message to Nigerians across the country.
The emphasis on grassroots mobilisation reflects the importance of local political structures in Nigeria's electoral system. Political organisations typically rely on networks extending from national leadership through geopolitical zones, states, local government areas and wards.
For the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, the effectiveness of the new structure will depend on how the appointed officials coordinate activities and engage supporters across different parts of Nigeria.
Opposition Politics and the 2027 Election
The unveiling of the campaign council comes amid wider discussions about opposition cooperation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Political discussions involving Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar and other opposition figures have generated considerable public interest as political groups explore different strategies for the next election.

Political Structure Faces Questions
While the formation of a 59-member campaign council provides an organisational framework, the movement still faces questions about coordination, political alliances, party structures and the eventual direction of the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso project.
Political movements seeking national electoral relevance generally need to establish effective structures across the country while communicating clear policy positions to voters.
The relationship between support movements and registered political parties is also an important consideration because candidates contest elections through recognised electoral platforms under Nigeria's electoral laws.
Why the Development Matters
The unveiling of the 59-member Obi-Kwankwaso campaign council is another development in the increasingly active political environment ahead of the 2027 elections.
The council brings together officials with responsibilities covering mobilisation, strategy, security, legal affairs, women affairs, information technology, administration and regional coordination.
Its state and zonal structure also provides the movement with a framework for coordinating political activities across different parts of Nigeria.
However, the practical impact of the structure will depend on how effectively the officials translate the organisation into sustained grassroots engagement and political communication.
2027 Political Landscape Continues to Evolve
Political realignments are expected to continue as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections.
Political parties, candidates, support groups and opposition movements are likely to announce new structures, alliances and campaign strategies as the electoral process progresses.
The OK Movement's latest announcement therefore represents one of the developments emerging from the broader political activity surrounding the 2027 presidential contest.
For Nigerian voters and political observers, further developments involving Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the movement and other political organisations will provide additional information about the direction of the country's opposition politics.
As the 2027 election approaches, the focus is expected to shift increasingly toward candidates, party platforms, policy proposals, campaign structures and the issues voters consider most important.
